Q. Question?
I parked my car at the kerb at my sisters house. Two mins inside I heard a massive bang.Came out to see a man had hit my car. Now my car wasn't in anyone's way and he hit from the otherside of the road. He was no doubt speeding with the damage he did and more than likely on the phone for the amount he swirved to hit me. 2 wheels fell off my car,the side bumper, both wheel axels snapped and the thingy in the middle which holds the wheels together also snapped. He tripped the airbags,My door won't open and my steering wheel popped out.I have the car on finance and the car has been wrote off,the insurance are saying they wont pay all my finance just what the car was woth. What can I do? i'm also gonna miss oveer a week of work, two driving pre-tests and my actual driving test.!! I also just spent 500euro on a new set of tyres the day before..?
Got all his info. He had to stop as he was 6 doors away from my sister's. I am gonna make sure I don't pay a cent. Kinda in shock...
Fellside. I was asking a question not for a smart arse know it all's two cent. How would you like if it happened t you. And I've to take a week of work because I'm a plumber and can't very well take my tools and copper on a train now can I?Thanks to everyone though.
A. Best Answer: Claim of his insurance
Make sure your claim includes all your out of pocket expenses. eg loss of earnings, taxis . You cannot claim all of the money for the new tyres though as they are running expenses of the car but they do increase the value of the car.

Darling averts revolt on 10p tax
Press Assoc. - 2 hours 6 minutes ago
The Government has avoided a potential revolt over the abolition of the 10p income tax rate after rebel backbenchers backed away from forcing their demands to a vote in the House of Commons.
Some 20 Labour MPs put their names to a call for additional measures to ensure full compensation to the 1.1 million low-paid workers who remain out of pocket following Chancellor Alistair Darling's £2.7 billion compensation package for the 10p tax losers.
But they decided not to press a vote after hearing assurances from the Treasury's Financial Secretary Jane Kennedy that Mr Darling will bring forward concrete proposals on the issue in his Pre-Budget Report this autumn.
Mr Darling faces a further challenge to his Budget measures on Wednesday, when the Commons will debate plans to increase vehicle excise duty (VED) on the most polluting cars.

Q. Question?
I'm 17, and recently I have been in desperate need to move out due to family problems and rent somewhere with my boyfriend. We have found somewhere for £450 pcm, meeting all of our needs, but I am seriously concerned on the money side of things.
first of all, my boyfriend gets £880 a month, but about £360 of that is paid out onto his car, of which he has on finance. So that is £520 he will have left over.
My parents will be helping with the rent, putting forward £250 a month until I myself get a job. Until then, me and my boyfriend pay £100 each on the rent.
We are planning on being extremely energy saving when we move, so I was wondering if my boyfriend's £420 would be enough to cover all utility/electrical/gas/water etc bills per month, until I get a job?
If indulging in no extras is what it takes to afford to live away from home, we will most definately put up with that until I am employed.
The house we are hopefully moving into is a very small 1 bed, if that information is needed to back anybodies answers :)
Ah, I did forget the council tax. The £420 would be reduced then to probably £330 max I guess..?
Sorry, another edit - He does now understand that buying the car so early was a mistake, and the car insurance is included in the figure I mentioned above, but as far as we know we can't get rid of it while paying back the initial price so we have to work with what we have..
A. Best Answer: If you want to figure it out exactly, why not just ask the current tenants how much they spend on bills? They'll probably be happy to give you an estimate. If the last tenants are gone already so you can't ask them, you can at least call the local council to enquire about council tax.
To be honest, my personal estimate is that EXCLUDING council tax, all of your utility bills should probably amount to about £100 per month. It will vary from month to month, so I would advise that you try to save a little money if possible, in case you find yourself in a situation a couple of months down the line where you are hit with a bigger bill than you expected - particularly come winter when you will be paying more to heat the house.
Then you can probably get by on about £100-150 per month for grocery bills, and then probably the only other thing that you need to account for is transportation - petrol, and bus or train fares for yourself.
I think you'll be fine. You're clearly quite realistic about the fact that you're not going to be having any extras or luxuries so if this doesn't bother you, then no problem.
The only problem I see here is your age. First of all, most landlords won't rent to someone so young, although I'm not sure from your question if you mean that that part's sorted already. Secondly, what kind of a job are you going to get at 17? No doubt a dead end one, because that's usually all that's open to people of that age. The problem there is that once you're in that sort of a job, it's very hard to get out. Do you not want to consider going to college? Students can get various benefits and allowances which means that it still could be possible for you to move out or your home. From the way your question is written you seem like a very intelligent person.
Q. Question?
My partner is a Valuere for the estate agent she works for which means that she has to go and see people; therefore for the past 6 months they have been paying her a car allowance to use her own car.
Today with no prior notice they have come to her and said that she will now have to use a car that is given to her and will be taking the allowance off her.
This puts her in a bit of a situation as there will be a car sat in the street not being used and costing her around £300 for the privilege if she sells it she may loose out as it is currently on finance.
Can they just drop this on her and does she have any rights?
A. Best Answer: I am afriad that they are within their rights. If they can provide a car for her to use they have no obligation to pay her for the use of her car.
Working for an estate agent, if I were her, I wouldn't complain too much, as her job will be the next thing to go in the current housing climate.
Q. Question?
I bought a car a year and 3 months ago and I've hit some difficult financial circumstances. Now, I want to return the car, for the fair price obviously of around £7500, which will leave me with £2500 to pay. If I return it, can I somehow get away with not paying the remaining finance? Not including anything illegal obviously ;)
A. Best Answer: if i borrowed money from you would you expect me to pay back the whole amount? of course you would so does everyone else
Q. Question?
I have been to look at a Ford KA, 1.3i today and can't decide if I should buy it or not. The main reason for buying a new car is that we currently have an R reg Fiat Punto that eats fuel and therefore need a car with lower fuel consumption.
I am looking to buy the car on Finance therefore have to go through a dealer and pay a little extra. I looked at a 55 ref Ford KA with colour co-ordinated bumpers, power steering, ABS, electric windows, CD player, Air con and 17,000 miles on the clock. The ford garage are prepared to sell for £5,000 do you think this is worth the money?
Also does anyone else have a similar spec KA and roughly how many miles do you get out of of tank of petrol and how much does it cost to fill up at the moment?
A. Best Answer: Eww bloody horrible looking cars - on looks alone then heck no!
Q. Question?
Do they all have to be in full time employment and homeowners, any other conditions?
Can you have a guarantor who is not a homeowner?
Thanks
A. Best Answer: Yes
Q. Question?
Both my car insurance and MOT are due at the end of July (one day apart). I would prefer to have these spread across the year a bit more - is there any way I can do this?
My car tax was also originally due at the end of July but I once paid for 6 months so it would change to January.
It's not that I can't afford to pay them both together as I have for the last few years, it would just be nicer if I didn't have such a big hit to my finances all at once. Any advice?
Ta, surely if you pay the insurance monthly doesn't it work out more expensive in the long run?
Thanks eye, but if you read my question you'll see that I've already changed my tax to January, it's just the insurance & MOT I want to space out.
My tax is sorted as it is now from Jan to Jan.
A. Best Answer: You can pay your insurance monthly or you can get your MOT done a month early not much else
