Q. Question?
Source, http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/uk-petrol-tax-jumps-at-twice-euro-average-skynews-e3fdd28c8dcf.html
British drivers have been hit by petrol tax rises running at twice the average rate across Europe, new data shows.
The AA said VAT on a tank of petrol in the UK has gone up 11.46% since the pre-Budget report at the end of November 2008.
That is over five times the increase seen in Austria and more than double the 5.07% average rise in 10 mainstream European countries, including France, Germany and Holland.
For UK diesel car owners, the fuel tax burden has increased 8.10% - marginally lower than the 8.33% in Ireland but almost three times the European average.
My question is what are we going to do about it? what happened to the fuel protests of a few years ago?
We have an election coming up, don't you think we should pressurise the politicians who will be desperate for our votes?
A. Best Answer: It seems to be that in England once prises rise, they never come down again. If people dont protest then they just keep rising the prises.
When people do protest and things are lowered, they make up for it by rising the prices of something else. I do think that this point should be made at the next election.
Its unfair that we should pay more for our fuel that other developed countries in europe.
Q. Question?
I had responded to a car ad in the UK online AutoTrader and been in contact with "Tom Slyns" about a vehicle. I now know this to be a scam and want to know who best I can report this to to get this guy caught. I have all the correspondence and the bank details of Terje Nicolas, the "Yahoo-finance rep" he is using.I would love to get this guy! Also, what kind of fun can I have to wind this guy up? He thinks I am making the payment a.s.a.p. but I am trying to work out what to do.
A. Best Answer: You probably cant find him because he is probably not in the UK and his name is not Tony Slyns or Terje Nicolas. Those are probably the names of their previous victims, as the scammers often use prior victim's names as their aliases. The real people with these names probably dont even know their identity is now being used to scam others.
If you want some scambaiting tips, read the forums on http://419eater.com/
But you should only ever do this if - you are using a proxy server so they can't find you, your email address has nothing to identify your real name, you have never given your phone number or address, etc. These scammers are not lone individuals, they are part of global criminal gangs, so you dont want any way for them to find out who you really are or where you really live
You can try to get a mailing address by saying that you would want to overnight mail a money order to them, and if they give a street address, then call the local police for that town. Or does he say exactly what town he is in? Say that you are coming this weekend (or if they are overseas say you have a cousin in that country who will come) to pick up the car and youll pay him cash.
Do an IP lookup of the emails to find out where they are contacting you from. These scammers are usually in W Africa or E Europe
Q. Question?
I test drove SAAB Tdi on 27/03/2010 and I quite liked it, the sales advisor priced it for £7333, I paid £2000 as a deposit with my Visa Debit Card, the deal was under their own scrapage allowance they were going to take my car in P/X without seeing it pay £2000 for it and arrange finance for £3333.
Now I am in a process of buying a flat in London so I requested to not do the finance bit till my house procedure is completed, unfortunately the bank has asked me to pay more monies & I have to back off this deal.
I did sign some paperwork, I/We ereby agree to purchase from you SUBJECT TO THE CONDITIONS HEREOF
Consumer transaction Nothing herein contained is intended to, nor will it affect, a consumers statutory rights under the state of Goods Act 1979 or the unfair contract terms Act 1977 or any amendment thereof.

I SIGNED IT :( where do I stand do I have a chance of getting it back somehow.
I have written an email just 24 hours after that I want to back of this deal as my financial condition has changed.
I spoke to the Manager, he is saying I have signed the finance paper & he agrees that I said to seek for finance once my mortgage procedure was completed. But the Deposit is NON- REFUNDABLE that's company policy and you are very welcome to seek legal advice he gave me his name.
I explained to him that my mortgage bank has asked for more monies & my Financial situation has changed I cant afford Finance anymore & I kindly request my money back.
I will be seeing him Face to Face on Friday 05/03/2010, what should I do, attached receipts which I signed, they didn't show me any terms & conditions, it doesn't say on receipt that it is non-refundable, and the car price is unfair.
your fair response will be appreciated
Kind Regards

A. Best Answer: He is a Sales Man. Get over it. He will want to make the sale. If he will not give your money back, the car is yours, that's what I think. Request title.
The reality here is true, you might have bought the car already, so get the keys, and drive it home. You will probably have to wait to move, or resale the car, then move. Tough lesson, I know.
But I think you deserve the car, NOW, especially since you put a down payment on it. Down payment, or deposit means the car is on hold for you, no one else, and they can not sell it from under you. The deposit goes towards the car, and that is probably the way it's going to be.
I know, where's good cop when you need one. I personally think the sales man could wait until you get your finances in order, then he good make a good sale.
Q. Question?
In September I bought a new Fiat Punto Grande.
For the past two months or so i have on occasion had problems starting the engine.
Mostly after it has been for a run and ive come back to the car an hour later.
One day when i was reversing off my drive the engine cut out and i was stuck in the middle of the road unable to restart the engine.
The engine will start around 4-5 mins later but it does this at the most inconvenient times and is happening more regularly.
The first time i took the car back to the dealer they said that they could not find anything wrong with it and gave it me back. They told me to phone the AA if it happened again so they could hook a computer up to my car and diagnose it, so when this happened i phoned them and an hour later when they arrived, of course my car started.
They gave me some advice to carry out in which should start my engine if it happened again but this did not work.
Therefore when it happened again later i took the car back to the dealer and it has been there now for 3 days. They are yet to find anything wrong with the car.
Does anyone have any advice as to what the fault maybe?
Also what are my rights with this car, is it true if the fault is not detected by the third visit to the dealer i am aloud a replacement car or a refund?
I have purchased this car on finance.
If anyone has any advice it would be really helpful, thankyou.
A. Best Answer: take it to fiat, they have a recall about that!!
Q. Question?
I had a pretty bad car accident and ended up writing my car off. If my insurance company doesnt pay the full amount left oweing with my finance company could i just transfer the remaining amount to pay onto a new car.
So if there is £600 left to pay and I buy a £5000 car then take out finance for £5600.
Is this possible?
A. Best Answer: Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool - carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q. Question?
I bought a 56 plate mini convertible from a mini dealership last june.
It ran ok at first but the past 2 months have been a total nightmare. It developed a leak (which my boyfriend said was there from day one but I never noticed) which is now so bad I cannot carry passengers without them getting wet bottoms! I just have to make sure I'm sitting on a waterproof jacket to make sure I don't have a dodgy wet patch when I get to work!
6 weeks ago the engine overheated and the whole radiator needed to be replaced. Needless to say I wasn't happy but the dealership replaced it under the used car warranty it came with. 4 weeks ago my washer jets stopped working even though I have a 50/50 mix in them and haven't worked since, although it has also now been above freezing for over a week. Also when I opened the bonnet to check the washer fluid level I noticed the overflow tank for engine coolant was empty...again. So I topped it up but have had to fill it up numerous times since then as it keeps leaking away, and checking it before every journey is just plain annoying. Also there is now an overwhelming chemical smell inside the cabin of my car and the boot also leaks like a seive...it's a total disaster.
So anyway it's back in the garage again...will need to wait and see what the outcome is. I'm now desperate to get rid of the useless thing but I'm 2.5K upside down on the finance which makes it hard.
I've been told I should speak to the dealership about returning my car due to the amount of faults it's had and I won't be liable for the finance shortfall but I have a suspicion they won't do it...is it worth trying?
there has never really been a lot of fumes, it's not too bad for that.
I was told the used car warranty didn't cover the leaky roof and I would have to pay for any repair myself...
A. Best Answer: Take the car back to the Garage. Its not fit for purpose.
The leak could be the thermostat, but it also could be the head gasket too. Any additional exhaust fumes or has the exhaust always been a heavy fumer??
The leak should really be repaird regardless, as this is something that shouldn't happen - soft top or not. Washer jets - have you tested to see if the pump is working??
Sounds like you bought a dog. Get onto the Garage, and make them either repair it ot replace it as the car you bought is not fit for purpose. Contact the Consumer Direct too for advice.
Q. Question?
I know unethical but I haven't paid my car finance for over 8 months now and intially the finance company we're calling writting all the time, but for the last 6 months at least nothing!! They don't ring nor write. I paid about 5 months of payments and then stopped due to loosing my job. Since I have moved address but still have access to mail at previous address. Does anyone have any idea of what's going on??
Technically not Patrick..It's defaulting on a payment plan, otherwise the Police would have had be knicked by now!! I know it's unethical, but what do people think twhy he finance company have gone quite??
Surely the courts would send through the legal work/dates etc..nothing!!
A. Best Answer: They'll be looking for you and your car. Expect it to get repossessed.
